During our project there are seven transnational meetings
1. Ostrava/Czech Republic, January 12 - 16, 2005
Our first transnational meeting was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic from 12th to 16th January 2005.
The focus of the meeting was to introduce partners to and inform them about the the project and to begin to build a transnational team. All partners introduced themselves and their organisations. In addition, getting to know Ostrava, the region and the people was an important part of the meeting.
Other activities included:
discussions about the project, its aims and activities
discussions about the detail of the work plan
discussions about national, cultural and organisational differences
agreements with the coordinating institutions
discussions about project communication, evaluation, mediation and deadlines
sightseeing in and around Ostrava
2. Almeirim/Portugal, April 6 – 10, 2005
Our second transnational meeting was held in Almeirim, Portugal, from 6th to 10th April 2005.
The focus of this meeting was the outcome of national investigations on the theme of "Learning in Senior Age". Key inputs included presentations (followed by debate) of national project concepts developed by partners.
The sightseeing part of the meeting took in excursions to the medieval village of Óbidos, the beach at Nazaré and the religious centre, Fatima. We really enjoyed Portuguese hospitality!
3. Leicester/United Kingdom, July 13 – 17, 2005
Our third transnational meeting was held in Leicester, United Kingdom, from 13th to 17th July 2005.
The focus was to present the work around the creation of focus groups and to get feedback from national activity on this theme. We realized that many cultural differences exist between partner countries. This is one point that greatly enriches our project.
Getting to know the beautiful rural area of the East Midlands was the aim of the sightseeing tour round Leicester.
4. Ljubljana/Slovenia, October 1 - 5, 2005
Our fourth transnational meeting took place in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 1th to 5th October 2005.
National modules in draft were presented at the meeting; we worked on the outline for the empowerment curriculum and the structure of the proposed project handbook. Our external evaluator, Dr. Rosa Diketmüller, joined us for a day.
We also had the opportunity to explore the city of Ljubljana and its beautiful surroundings as well as appreciating the hospitality of our Slovenian partner.
5. Hamburg/Germany, February 1 – 5, 2006
The fifth meeting was held in Hamburg, Germany, from 1st to 5th February 2006, organised by our German Partner.
The focus of the meeting was to discuss the developed modules, to try to combine the modules to a curriculum. Besides all project partners chosed one module, developed by another partners to test.
The sightseeing part of the meeting took in an excursion to the harbour of Hamburg together with German and Turkish seniors who a participants of the German LENA project.
6. Pisa/Italy, June 7 - 11, 2006
The sixth LENA meeting was held from 7th to 11ht of June in Pisa in Italy, organised by our Italian partner.
7. Almeirim/Portugal, November 1 - 5, 2006
Our 7th transnational meetingtook place in Fatima, Portugal, from November 1 - 5, 2006.
The focus was to finalise the curriculum and the content for the planned handbook as well as to discuss some open questions concerning the project. Qualitative interviews with our external evaluator, Dr. Rosa Diketmüller, were also part of the agenda.
8. Graz/Austria, January 10 - 14, 2007
Our final meeting was held from January 10 - 14, 2007 in Graz/Austria
